ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT ASSESSMENT AND PREAPPROVAL PROJECT LOCATION STUDY FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF A SEPTAGE RECEPTION SITE FOR THE COMMUNITY OF NAOUSA ON PAROS ISLAND IN THE PREFECTURE OF CYCLADES

ISSUE
The purpose of the project was the preparation of the preapproval project location study and the issue of Environmental Permit for the construction of a septage reception site in the broader region of the Community of Naousa on Paros Island.

ΑποχέτευσηThe project serves the properties located outside of the community boarders not connected to the existing sewer network that leads collected septage to the Waste Water Treatment Plant (WWTP).

Septage is collected daily by special trucks, which following collection, discharge septage into the network.
 
The project’s concern was the development of a septage reception site for trucks and the construction of a transfer pipeline of septage to the existing sewer network of the Community of Naousa on Paros Island.

The proposed septage reception site occupies an area of 300m². The pipeline has a total length of 800m and pipeline diameter of 200mm. It is noted that the pipeline is constructed alongside the existing road.
 
In the accounted study the exact locations of the construction works were identified while the current situation was analyzed, investigating the state of the natural and human environment. At the same time significant information was offered with respect to the feasibility of the works along with their analytical description.
 
Finally, the extent and size of the caused environmental annoyance from the construction and operation of the works was described, while appropriate methods to treat environmental impacts during construction and operation phase were provided.

BENEFIT
The project was submitted to the public agency responsible for issuing the required Environmental Permit and contributed to the resolution of septage management issues within the Community of Naousa on Paros Island.
