PROJECT PURPOSE

The scope of the project was a feasibility study and a project proposal preparation and submission in order wastewater reuse works to be funded by the Cohesion Fund. The feasibility study included a Cost Benefit Analysis (CBA) and it was submitted to the Operational Programme "Environment and Sustainable Development". The project proposal was submitted under measure 2.12 of the Programme.

The purpose of this study was to identify the weaknesses of the wastewater treatment plant of Edipsos (20.000 PE) and to provide proposals on the works needed in order to upgrade it for reuse of the treated effluents (irrigation of crops). 

KEY INFORMATION

The project included:

- Identification and presentation of the proposal's contribution to the accomplishment of the special targets set by the priority axis of the Programme and demonstration of the implementation of relative monitoring indicators.

- Feasibility study with cost benefit analysis (CBA) for the works involved.

- Estimation of the duration of all intermediate stages for the completion of the project in accordance with the maturity state of the actions involved and deadlines setting for the absorption of the fund.

- Assurance of the selectability of the included actions-works and hence related costs.

- Completion of the Application for EU funds (Cohesion Fund).

- Identification of critical management issues with respect to the approval of the application (prioritizing required actions, organizing internal approvals among involved parties, identifying obligations of the project Beneficiary and Operator etc).

- Support of the Beneficiary and Operator in a technical and administrative aspect throughout the appraisal phase.

 

RESULT
The provision of the aforementioned services was in line with the requirements for applying for EU funds for the construction of wastewater management works.
