The purpose of the project 
was the preliminary design of the sewer pipeline network for the municipal district of Iasmos as well as the external sewer networks and pumping stations for transporting the collected wastewater to the Waste Water Treatment Plant (WWTP) of Iasmos, which was proposed to be situated 2km south of Iasmos.
The community of Iasmos was served by septic tanks. The produced wastewater was discharged untreated in the broader region resulting in the degradation of the natural environment and the quality of life for local residents.

The design of the project was pursuant to the Greek Presidential Decree 696/74. The design of the pipelines, the pumping stations and the WWTP, was based on a 40-year horizon, while the selection of the electrical and mechanical equipment was based on a 20-year horizon. Specifically, the project included:
- vacuum sewer network for the community of Iasmos (with a total length of 18.300m and pipeline diameters from 200mm to 315mm)
- force main pipeline network (total length: 2.700m and pipeline diameters of 250mm); two (2) pumping stations were used for pumping the wastewater
The wastewater design solved the wastewater problem for the community of Iasmos.
