ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT STUDY REGARDING THE DRILLING OF THE FOLLOWING POTABLE WATER SUPPLY WELLS: 1. DRAVISKOU COMMUNITY 2. GAZOROU COMMUNITY 3. THOLOU COMMUNITY 4. NEAS PETRAS COMMUNITY 5. AGIOU CHRISTOFOROU & SFELINOU COMMUNITY, SERRES PREFECTURE

ISSUE
The purpose of the project laid in the environmental licensing for the drilling of potable water supply wells in Draviskou, Gazorou, Tholou, Neas Petras, Agiou Hristoforou and Sfelinou former communities in Serres Prefecture, aiming to meet their potable water needs. 


SOLUTION                                                                                                   
The study area is located 30km east of the city of Serres, and is integrated in Serres basin. North, lies mountain Menikio, while south mountains Paggeo and Kerdillio.

In the accounted study the exact locations of the construction works were identified while the current situation was analyzed, investigating the state of the natural and human environment. At the same time significant information was offered with respect to the feasibility of the works along with their analytical description.
 
Finally, the extent and size of the caused environmental annoyance from the construction and operation of the works was described, while appropriate methods to treat environmental impacts during construction and operation phase were provided.

BENEFIT
The study was submitted to the department responsible for environmental licensing of the proposed works contributing to the settlement of water supply shortage in the aforementioned communities.
