ISSUE
The purpose of the project was the final design of the required works to address the problems resulting from the open ditches (torrents) of Municipal Districts Charopos & Vamvakofyto of Municipality of Sidirokastro.
SOLUTION
The project was required, due to the proximity of the ditch to anthropogenic activities..gif)
The main problem was the risk from:
- floods
- accidents
The proposed projects for flood protection of the areas Charopos and Vamvakofyto, kept the existing route of the torrents. The design of the proposed works aligned the torrents bed wherever it was possible, without diverting from the existing route.
Along the entire length of the torrents, it was proposed the placement of a fence 2m high made of barbed wire and poles made of merchant bars. Further, it was proposed the construction of rectangular reinforced concrete pipelines.
Specifically, the route of the torrent of Charopos was arranged for a total length of 1.200m.

BENEFIT
The design of the aforementioned works solved the flood problem in the ditches of Municipal Districts of Charopo and Vamvakofyto of the Municipality of Sidirokastro.
