ISSUE
The purpose of the project was Μαρώνειαthe final design of the water distribution networks for the communities Vakos, Pamforos, Amaranta, Kallithea, Isalos, Salmoni, Askites, Nea Petra, Imeros, Profitis Ilias, Venna, Mirana and Ergani in the Municipality of Maronia. For each community, a new expanded water distribution network was proposed which covered the total community area. The design included the replacement of the existing pipelines with new 3rd generation polyethylene pipelines.

 The majority of the communities mentioned above, had an internal water distribution network with pipelines made of asbestos, resulting in poor quality water supplied to residents.

The table in the right, shows the total peak population of all the communities, for each design phase.

The design of the project was pursuant to the Greek Presidential Decree 696/74. The design of the pipelines was for a 40-year horizon.

The upgrading of the water supply and distribution networks, solved the drinking water problem of in villages Vakos, Pamforos, Amaranta, Kallithea, Isalos, Salmoni, Askites, Nea Petra, Imeros, Profitis Ilias, Venna, Mirana and Ergani in the Municipality of Maronia.
