ISSUE
The purpose of the project was the final design of the external water supply network and the water distribution network for the village Manola within the community of Thirasia.
SOLUTION
The island’s communities had neither water distribution networks nor storage facilities (water tanks). The island’s water was supplied by rain storage tanks with a capacity of 5m3, located on the roofs of the houses. Furthermore, water was being transported by ferry boat from the island of Thira. The main problem was the lack of an adequate water storage tank, and the construction of a suitable distribution network.

The design of the project was pursuant to the Greek Presidential Decree 696/74. The design of the pipelines and the water tank was based on a 20-year horizon. Specifically, the project included:
