TECHNICAL STUDY ON PACKAGES AND PACKAGES WASTE IN GREECE

ISSUE
The purpose of the study was the preparation of the framework for the packages and the packages waste in Greece for the harmonization of the Greek legislation with the European Parliament and Council Directive 94/62 of December 1992.

SOLUTION
The study included statistical data, population census data and final results from the analysis of the above data, for the packages materials for the years 1995-1998 and also determined the rates of consumption, solid waste, recycling and reuse with analytical mass balances for each package for the years 1995-1998. In addition, the impacts and the potential consumption changes on the flows of solid waste and recycled materials were analysed for the years 2000-2005 in relation to the harmonization of the Greek legislation with the European Parliament and Council Directive 94/62.

BENEFIT
The study served as a tool for the packages and packages waste management in Greece.
